Man killed by NJ Transit train in Monmouth County

MONMOUTH COUNTY, NJ – A man was struck killed by a New Jersey Transit train in Monmouth County on Thursday morning, according to NJ.com.

The man was struck on the track near the Hazlet station by a train that had left Long Branch at 4:45 a.m. and was expected at Penn Station at about 5:58 a.m.

Service in the area was shut down in both directions as the incident was investigated on Thursday morning. The train lines reopened at about 8:15 a.m.

The identity of the victim has not been released and the circumstances surrounding the accident are also stull unclear.
