BERGEN COUNTY, NJ – A man was killed after a single-vehicle crash and ruptured lithium battery in Bergen County Saturday morning.

According to the Daily Voice, the 45-year-old Cresskill man was driving a Tesla northbound on Palisades Interstate Parkway near Exit 10 in Nanuet. The man’s Model S veered off the roadway before hitting a tree on the interstate’s center median.

The 375-volt lithium-ion battery ruptured, causing extreme temperatures that led to a serious blaze.
