TOMS RIVER, NJ – A man was killed after hitting a utility pole and becoming trapped in his overturned convertible on Tuesday, according to Daily Voice.
Roy Piazza, 43, lost control of his 2005 Chrysler Crossfire on westbound Ocean County 571 just after 5 p.m. He was near the intersection of Whitesville Road with Leawood Avenue when his vehicle went head-on into a utility pole.
The convertible overturned and the utility pole broke into three pieces. Piazza was trapped in his vehicle.
The Toms River Fire Department arrived on the scene and extracted the trapped man. An emergency worker performed CPR on Piazza before he was transported to Community Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
The crash remains under investigation.
