Man dead after SUV rear-ends vehicle, lands in reservoir

CLARK, NJ – A man from North Caldwell died Sunday in a collision on the Garden State Parkway that ended with an SUV landing in the Middlesex Reservoir.

According to NJ.com, the accident happened at 1:10 a.m. near the 135.6 milepost of the parkway when 49-year-old Brian Demeo, of North Caldwell, rear-ended another vehicle.

Demeo, operating an SUV, then drove off the side of the road and collided with a fence and a guard rail before continuing on. The SUV collided with multiple trees before coming to rest upside-down in the Middlesex Reservoir.

Demeo was ejected from the vehicle and killed in the collision.

Two occupants of the rear-ended vehicle suffered minor wounds.
