FORT LEE, NJ – A pedestrian was struck and injured Friday night by a driver who initially fled the scene, Daily Voice reports.

Ricahrd Giocobone, 42, turned left off Lewis Street and onto Fletcher Avenue from a three-way stop and hit a pedestrian in the crosswalk with his pickup. According to witnesses, the driver originally fled the scene after the accident, continuing down Fletcher Avenue towards the George Washington Bridge. However, Giacobone returned to the scene while police and the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Fatal Accidents Investigation Unit were investigating the accident.

The victim, a 52-year-old Fort Lee woman, was taken to the hospital with moderate injuries after the accident.

Giocobone received summonses for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk, fleeing the scene of an accident with injuries, and careless driving. According to Capt. Ricky Mirkovic, the driver was released with a hearing to come.
