UNION COUNTY, NJ — A 3-month-old baby suffered serious injuries late Saturday in a two-car wreck that hurt four others on Interstate 78 near Union Township, according to Daily Voice.

New Jersey State Police said the collision occurred on the westbound lanes near mile marker 53.1 at about 11:30 p.m.

The cause of the accident has not been disclosed, but authorities learned a 37-year-old Irvington man was driving a Mercedes-Benz westbound when it hit the back of a Nissan Rogue in the local lanes.

A baby, who was a passenger in the Nissan, was rushed to a local hospital with serious injuries.

The Nissan’s driver, a 45-year-old Georgia man, and his other passenger, a 25-year-old New York woman, both suffered minor injuries.

Officials said the driver of the Mercedes-Benz received moderate injuries while his 32-year-old male passenger, of Jersey City, suffered minor injuries.

No pending charges or citations have been reported at this time.

An investigation remains in progress.
