Identity of pedestrian killed in Cranford released

UNION COUNTY, NJ – The pedestrian struck and killed at a Cranford intersection on Tuesday morning has been identified, according to Nj.com.

The victim was 78-year-old Kenneth Ballman. Ballman had been crossing Springfield Avenue near Orange Avenue when a southbound vehicle struck him at about 6:30 a.m.

The Cranford resident was pronounced dead after being transported to a local hospital.

The driver remained on the scene and cooperated with the investigation.

The Cranford Police Department is still investigating.
