NEWARK, NJ – A woman was killed as the result of a hit-and-run collision near Branch Brook Park on Tuesday evening, police say.
According to NJ.com, the 42-year-old victim was struck in the 300 block of 6th Avenue shortly after 6:30 p.m. by a speeding vehicle which subsequently hit a parked car. Police later detained its driver, but have not filed charges at this time.
Emergency responders pronounced the victim dead at the scene at 6:59 p.m.
Investigations are ongoing.
