HALEDON, NJ – A two-vehicle collision early this morning led to the death of a school custodian and his wife, as well as the injury of a 21-year-old man, according to the South Passaic Daily Voice.
The crash happened near the crossing of John St and Belmont Ave at about midnight when a Nissan Murano and a Fiat 500 Abarth collided.
The driver of the Fiat, 49-year-old Corrado LaRosa, who was the director of custodial services for the Haledon Public School District, died at the scene at 12:33 a.m. despite efforts to revive him.
His wife, Tina Gatto LaRosa, was pronounced dead at the hospital in Paterson a few minutes later, at 12:44 a.m.
21-year-old Oakland man Anthony Crespo, who had been operating the Fiat, was taken to the hospital for the treatment of non-critical injuries.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the accident at this time.
