ATLANTIC CITY, NJ – A woman allegedly driving drunk and with a suspended license injured herself and four others in a fiery crash yesterday morning in Atlantic City, reports BreakingAC.
The accident happened around 5 a.m. at the 800 block of Mediterranean Avenue.
According to video evidence, the vehicle was speeding on Melrose Avenue when it struck a concrete barrier. The car then went up in flames.
The five occupants of the car were outside the vehicle when emergency officials arrived at the scene. They were not wearing their seatbelts at the time of the accident, according to the report.
The victims have been taken to the hospital with injuries that are not expected to be life-threatening.
The driver, Westville woman India Wright, 23, has been charged with multiple crimes, including with driving while intoxicated, driving with a suspended license leading to serious bodily harm, and four counts of assault by automobile.
The incident remains under investigation by Atlantic City Police at this time.
