ELMWOOD PARK, NJ – A pickup truck driver was resuscitated by a local off-duty firefighter after an accident on Route 80 on Tuesday afternoon.
According to Daily Voice, the driver crashed in his GMC Sierra with a concrete barrier on westbound Route 80 at about 3:45 p.m. A Hackensack firefighter was on his home when he saw the accident. Acting quickly, he broke the back window of the truck. and with the help of other good Samaritans, he pulled the 63-year-old man out and began CPR.
A state trooper arrived with a defibrillator and assisted the firefighter and other good Samaritan with CPR until an ambulance arrived.
The victim was in critical condition when he transported to Hackensack University Medical Center. An update on his condition has not been released.
