PLAINFIELD, NJ – A fire hydrant was damaged by a two-vehicle car accident in a residential area of Plainfield on Monday, according to a local news story.

The two vehicles collided at the intersection of Hillcrest Avenue and East 3rd Street. The fire hydrant, which sits near a stop sign at the intersection was struck by one of the vehicles. Water was soon filling the intersection.

The fire department as well as New Jersey American Water were addressing the situation.

Reportedly, there have been several accidents at the same intersection over the past couple of years. Speed bumps have been put up to help decrease that number.
