UNION COUNTY, NJ – An elderly pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle in Garwood on Wednesday evening of last week, according to Nj.com.
The driver, a 61-year-old woman, was driving south on Walnut Street. She struck the pedestrian near the intersection at Second Avenue at about 6:15 p.m.
An officer patrolling the area was the first to respond to the call. When the officer arrived, the driver was on the phone with 911.
The victim, 81-year-old Catherine Flint died at the scene.
It has been determined that the driver was not impaired or speeding when the fatal accident happened.
Police are still investigating.
