SUSSEX COUNTY, NJ – A elderly man was struck and killed in the roadway after stopping to pick up debris in Andover Township on Friday evening.
NJ.com reported that the 88-year-old John A. Nordmeyer Jr. pulled his vehicle to the side of Route 206 near the intersection with Brighton Road. He was walking along the roadway at about 8 p.m. when a northbound vehicle struck the Sparta man.
He died at the scene of the accident.
Police closed the roadway in the area for about six hours on Friday while they investigated the scene.
