GALLOWAY, NJ – According to Dailyvoice.com, a man from Egg Harbor City crashed near the Travelodge on White Horse Pike Monday afternoon. Authorities allege that he was illegally racing while driving under the influence.
When police responded to the accident they found that Vishal H. Patel, 31, was intoxicated. According to witnesses, Patel had been driving at a high rate of speed westbound down Route 30 and passing other drivers on the shoulder when he hit a second vehicle.
The accident happened at about 4:20 p.m. One of the vehicles involved in the accident rolled into the marsh next to the road.
The driver of the car that Patel struck was transported to Alanticare Regional Medical Center-City Campus. Patel’s four passengers refused medical attention.
Patel was charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, racing, and other violations.
