SALEM COUNTY, NJ – An intoxicated man crashed into a business on Route 49 in Pennsville Township on Tuesday night then fled from the scene on foot.
According to NJ.com, the 27-year-old man was southbound in a Jeep Cherokee on Route 49 when he veered across the center line and drove off the road. At about 10 p.m., he hit the sign in front of Salem Boat Exchange then struck the building.
The driver, who a witness identified a Javien Brown, ran from the scene and was found hiding in the brush close to the scene.
He was transported to a local hospital for his injuries.
It was also determined that he was driving while intoxicated when the crash happened. He was been charged with DWI, leaving the scene, reckless driving and other offences.
