WYCKOFF, NJ – Authorities have apprehended a drunk driver who fled the scene of a wrong-way crash near a Route 208 overpass last month.
Daily Voice reported that the unlicensed driver was a 21-year-old named Sabrina Y. Zegarra. She was driving an unregister Mitsubishi on Russell Avenue when she crossed the center yellow line. She crashed with an oncoming Jeep at about 5 p.m. on August 21. The yellow Jeep overturned and Zegarra immediately fled the scene.
The driver of the Jeep was able to exit and vehicle and sustained only minor injuries.
Police in Hackensack were able to apprehend the suspect after the on-site investigation identified her vehicle from debris at the crash scene.
Zegarra faces myriad charges including reckless driving, leaving the scene of a crash, possession of an open container, driving with a suspended license, and driving an unregistered vehicle.
