BAYONNE, NJ – The driver of a car that went into Newark Bay in Bayonne on Tuesday was saved by a quick-acting good Samaritan.

According to ABC7NY, the car went off a Steven R. Gregg Park roadway into Newark Bay on Tuesday evening. The male driver could be seen hanging out the window of the vehicle.

As people in the area began to notice the accident, a 29-year-old Anthony Capuano removed his prosthetic leg and jumped into the water to pull the driver to safety. The driver was unable to swim, but thankfully Capuano is a lifeguard.

The driver is expected to make a full recovery.

It is unclear how the accident happened. Local police are continuing to investigate.
