Driver Racing on Route 17 Collides With Minivan; Injuries

CARLSTADT, NJ- According to Daily Voice, a driver that was said to be racing another vehicle down Route 17 went airborne in his Mini Cooper and collided with a minivan, causing severe injuries on Tuesday afternoon.

Shortly after 1:00pm, a Mini Cooper and a Camaro were racing down Route 17 outside Meadowlands Diner when the Mini Cooper crashed into a minivan. Firefighters had to extricate the minivan driver, a roughly 20-year-old man from Pennsylvania, out of the vehicle. He was transported to Hackensack University Medical Center with severe injuries and in traumatic arrest. Witnesses say the Mini Cooper driver overshot the turn at Hoboken Road, causing him to hit the minivan on the driver’s side.

The Camaro kept going.

This accident is still under investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Fatal Accident Unit and police. We will be monitoring for updates.
