NEWARK, NJ- An approximately 50-year-old driver was injured after falling off the side of an embankment on Route 1 and 9 due to a crash with a tractor-trailer on Tuesday, reports Daily Voice.
At approximately 4:20pm, an incident with a tractor-trailer caused the driver’s vehicle to fall off the side of an embankment on Route 1 and 9, at the westbound ramp to Route 78. The vehicle fell 20 feet down and trapped the driver inside, resulting in severe head trauma and multiple lacerations to the body.
Officials arrived and Newark Fire Engines 10, 29, and other Fire Department officials worked to free the victim from his vehicle. They succeeded less than an hour after the crash, and the driver was taken to University Hospital for treatment.
