NEWARK, NJ – A driver involved in an accident on NJ-21 near 3rd Avenue on Tuesday fled the scene, according to reports.
Authorities received numerous reports of a crash in the northbound lanes on NJ-21 shortly before 10:05 p.m.
A few of the callers reported seeing a two-vehicle accident that left one car overturned and the other in the Passaic River.
Emergency responders arrived to the scene and found the overturned vehicle, but could not find any evidence that another vehicle fell into the river.
There were no victims inside the overturned vehicle.
Authorities closed all northbound lanes for investigation and cleanup purposes.
No arrests have been reported.
