Driver Critically Injured After Crash in Franklin Lakes

FRANKLIN LAKES, NJ- A driver ran a stop sign and was struck by another vehicle in Franklin Lakes, causing severe injury and head trauma on Tuesday morning, reports Daily Voice.

A 27-year-old Paterson resident was driving on Route 208 northbound to Summit Avenue when she ran a stop sign and was struck by a truck at approximately 7:30am.

Her Nissan Sentra was struck by a Freightliner while she turned directly left without stopping. Borough firefighters arrived to the scene and extricated her from the vehicle, subsequently transporting her to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center.

Neither the 66-year-old driver of the Freightliner or the 48-year-old driver of a BMW that was also struck at the scene of the accident were injured. The BMW was struck by the Nissan after the initial accident, while both the Freightliner and the Nissan went off the east side of the roadway due to the collision.

This accident is still under investigation. We will be monitoring for updates.
