Driver arrested after Hackensack hit-and-run

HACKENSACK, NJ – A driver was arrested after leaving the scene where he struck a man with his car on Thursday, according to a local news report.

The accident happened on Polifly Road at about 12:30 p.m. at the intersection with Sutton Avenue. The victim was a 27-year-old man who was found unconscious when officials arrived at the scene.

Juan Gonzalez, 36, is being held in the Bergen County Jail on charges that include leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident resulting in bodily injury, endangering an injured victim, and avoiding apprehension.

The victim, who still unidentified, was transported to Hackensack University Medical Center. His injuries were consistent with a motor vehicle accident. As of Saturday, he remained in serious condition.
