MIDDLESEX COUNTY, NJ – A man escaped serious injury when he crashed his sedan into a tractor-trailer on Route 1 in South Brunswick on Monday morning.
According to local news, the driver of a white 2020 Tesla was headed north on Route 1 when he got distracted and struck a 2005 Freightliner near Executive Drive at about 8:20 a.m.
The driver sustained minor injuries and declined treatment. However, the passenger’s side of the vehicle was entirely sheared off by the crash. Police commented that the driver was lucky to have escaped more serious injury.
The truck was disabled.
Authorities also noted the seriousness of distracted drivers and mentioned a new initiative to crack down on texting and driving beginning April 1.
