CHATHAM, NJ – A collision on Route 24 caused traffic delays and closures in Chatham this afternoon, according to the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT).

The accident occurred near Exit 7 for Route 124/the JFK Parkway at about 12:50 p.m.
Authorities initially closed down both directions of the roadway for the investigation. By 1:01 p.m., westbound lanes of the highway were reopened, but eastbound lanes remained closed.
Drivers were asked to avoid the area and use an alternate route, or to use the posted detour.
It is unclear at this point what led to the crash or if anyone was hurt.
