NEWARK, NJ – A construction worker is in critical condition after being struck by an errant vehicle on Route 1&9 in Newark on Saturday morning.
According to RLS Media, a driver lost control of their vehicle on Route 1&9 near where it crosses Route 21 at about 5 a.m. The car barreled into the victim, who was working on foot at the scene, and pinned him to a truck, causing severe injuries.
The road was closed down so that emergency workers would not be delayed by the heavy traffic and could more quickly get to the scene.
The victim, a 55-year-old man, was taken to a local hospital with head injuries. He was in critical condition.
The accident is still under investigation.
