According to Daily Voice, a vehicle collided with a utility pole in the 1800 block of South 6th Street in the early morning hours on Saturday.
When authorities arrived on the scene they found the driver still behind the wheel.
The victim was identified as 24-year-old Michael Giancola, who was a local resident. He was pronounced dead after being transported to a local hospital.
Authorities were alerted to the incident by a ShotSpotter gunshot detection system in the area. They attributed the cause of the accident and the cause of death to the multiple gunshot wounds sustained by the driver.
An investigation into the incident is ongoing. Investigators are asking witnesses or anyone with information to contact the police.
