BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — A municipal employee was injured in a two-vehicle crash Sunday afternoon after a driver ran a stop sign in Palisades Park, according to Daily Voice.
Authorities said the wreck occurred on Central Boulevard at around 3:00 p.m.
A preliminary investigation indicates the worker was driving a truck that was towing a light tower to an event at Borough Hall. At one point, a second driver in an SUV failed to stop at a stop sign and crashed into the truck. The impact of the crash sent the SUV into a pole, which caused its bottom half to land on top of the city vehicle, and its first half to hang from overhead wires.
Medics transported the city employee to a local hospital due to complaints of leg pain. It was unclear whether the causing driver was injured or issued a summons following the wreck.
A section of Central Boulevard was closed during the emergency response.
An investigation was underway.
