Car fire extinguished in Scotch Plains

SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ – A vehicle in Scotch Plains caught fire on Route 22 and drove into a gas station late last Wednesday night.

Patch.com reported that the 2001 Dodge Ram van caught fire on Route 22 near Park Avenue. The van then drove into the nearby Lukoil gas station, where the driver got out of the vehicle safely at about 11:15 p.m.

Firefighters responded to the scene and were able to put out the fire without further incident beyond the van. The driver was the only occupant.

The Scotch Plains Fire Department and EMS both responded to the scene.
