BURLINGTON COUNTY, NJ – A major crash on US 206 in Southampton Township Wednesday evening injured five people and left one person dead, according to NJ.com.
A pickup truck was driving south when it crossed into oncoming traffic near milepost 21 at about 6 p.m. The truck crashed head-on with an SUV in the northbound lanes. After the initial collision, five more vehicles became involved in the pileup.
David Pacheco, the 35-year-old driver of the SUV, was pronounced dead at the scene. Additionally, three men and two women suffered minor to moderate injuries in the accident.
The crash closed the roadway between Retreat Road and State Road 38 for about seven hours.
The investigation into the crash continued on Thursday.
