TOTOWA, NJ – Additional details have emerged in the vehicle fire and fuel spill that was reported on Thursday afternoon. A mobile crane was destroyed in the fire on Interstate 80 near Minnisink Road, according to Dailyvoice.com.
Witnesses reported hearing an explosion shortly before 3 p.m. Wayne and Totowa firefights extinguished the flames on both the crane and a nearby bush that had caught fire. They also brought a hydraulic fuel spill under control.
The driver of the fire truck that crashed on the way to the scene sustained a minor injury. A state trooper was hit with tire debris and also received medical attention.
The fire and the accident involving the fire truck are both under investigation.
