BAYONNE, NJ – The woman who died in the May 17 house fire in Bayonne has been identified as 98-year-old Maria Teti, sources report.
The Bayonne fire department responded to the fire on 18 E. 16th Street shortly after 6:15 p.m.
Firefighters were able to control the fire at 7:01 p.m. and enter the house rescuing two adult females.
While containing the fire they were also able to locate a deceased female, identified as Teti, with apparent injuries caused by the fire.
Teti was pronounced dead at Bayonne Medical Center at 6:42 p.m.
Investigation determined that the origin of the fire was the first floor living room and the cause does not appear suspicious at this time.
The Hudson County Regional Arson Task Force is actively investigating this case with assistance.
