ALPINE, NJ – Nine people, including a 15-year-old boy, were injured in a pileup on the Palisades Interstate Parkway yesterday afternoon, according to the Hackensack Daily Voice.
The multi-vehicle collision occurred near Exit 4 in Alpine at about 12:30 p.m., when a 2013 BMW X5 SUV, a 2013 Toyota coupe, and a 2008 Chrysler minivan, driven by a 57-year-old man, collided.
Three people were trapped within the wreckage of the minivan. After being rescued, they and two other occupants from the minivan were taken to the hospital in Hackensack with non-critical injuries.
The five victims in the minivan included the driver, a 55-year-old woman, a 53-year-old woman who sustained a leg injury, an 81-year-old woman who suffered head wounds, and a 15-year-old boy who injured his hand.
Four other people complained of minor injuries but were not taken to the hospital.
The accident remains under investigation at this time.
