PASSAIC COUNTY, NJ – An 82-year-old pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle at an intersection in Paterson on Tuesday afternoon.
According to RLS Media, a 21-year-old Paterson resident was southbound on Memorial Drive when she struck the elderly woman with her 2012 Toyota Corolla at Van Houten Street at about 3 p.m.
The victim, identified as Mary Bitner, was taken to Saint Joseph University Medical Center. She was pronounced dead several hours later.
The driver of the other vehicle, Alyssa Lorenzo, stayed on the scene and cooperated with the authorities.
At this time, no charges have been filed. However, the accident remains under investigation.
