MONMOUTH COUNTY, NJ – A female pedestrian was struck and killed by a car on Route 35 in Aberdeen Township on Tuesday morning.
According to Nj.com, the victim, identified a 71-year-old Marlene Liptak, was walking with her husband on Route 35 at about 6 a.m. A Ford Explorer was headed northward and had a green light as it approached Cliffwood Avenue. The vehicle swerved to avoid Liptak’s husband, who was crossing in the crosswalk with their dog but struck Liptak.
Liptak was pronounced dead at the scene.
At this time, no charges have been brought against the driver, who was not injured by the crash.
The accident remains under investigation.
