BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — Six people, including two juveniles, were hospitalized Monday after a crash involving a small school bus near Ridgewood High School, reports 92.7 WOBM.
The accident happened at the corner of Van Dien Avenue and Ridgewood Avenue at about 4:00 p.m.
According to Ridgewood Police, the school bus was heading northbound on Van Dien Avenue toward the intersection when it went through a red light. Moments later, it was hit by a Land Rover and a Mazda CX-9.
Photos captured at the scene indicate the bus continued off the roadway following the crashes and came to rest near a group of trees. Significant damage was observed on the vehicle’s driver’s side door.
Between the three vehicles, the bus driver, three adults and two juveniles aged 11 and 15 were all transported to local hospitals with injuries considered non-life-threatening. It was unclear whether the driver of the Mazda was hurt, but they refused treatment.
At this time, no charges against the bus driver, a contractor with Ridgewood Public Schools, has been filed.
