MERCER COUNTY, NJ — A fire broke out among five vehicles Monday morning on Interstate 295 near Trenton-Mercer Airport in Ewing Township, reports Daily Voice.

The incident occurred on the southbound lanes, south of Exit 75 to County Highway 579, or Bear Tavern Road, at about 6:30 a.m.

It was unclear whether or not a crash caused the blaze, but two right lanes of the highway’s three lanes, including a shoulder were closed. Motorists were warned of a 5-10 minute delay in the initial report.

The scene led to a major traffic backup starting from the Scotch Road exit and extending past the Scudders Falls bridge and into Pennsylvania,” according to Ewing Police.

At this time, authorities have not confirmed any injuries in the event.
