CLIFTON, NJ – A 35-year-old man crossing the street was killed by a hit-and-run driver in Clifton early this morning, according to the Daily Voice.
The crash happened on Route 46 near Rock Hill Road, just after 12 a.m., when 35-year-old Clifton resident Dharmesh H. Patel was walking across the roadway.
He was struck by a driver who then sped away from the scene. A second driver, a 52-year-old man from New Brunswick, also collided with Patel. The second driver, however, remained at the scene.
Patel was taken to the hospital, where a few hours later, he succumbed to his injuries.
Authorities are searching for the first driver, and are asking those with any information on the accident to come forward to aid in the investigation.
