EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ – Three people, including an 18-year-old and a 19-year-old, are in critical condition following a wrong-way accident in East Rutherford this morning, according to the Pascack Valley Daily Voice.
The accident occurred on Route 3, on Berry’s Creek Bridge, at about 1:30 a.m. as an 18-year-old driver was traveling westward in the eastbound lanes of the highway.
She collided head-on with another vehicle, pinning herself, her 19-year-old passenger, and the man driving the other vehicle within the wreckage.
All three victims suffered severe injuries as a result of the crash, though they are expected to survive.
Authorities closed multiple lanes of the highway for several hours following the accident.
