MANCHESTER, NJ – A 22-year-old woman was killed during a car accident that was possibly caused in part by drowsy driving on the Jersey Shore early this morning.
According to the Hackensack Daily Voice and Jersey Shore Online, the accident happened on Route 70, near mile marker 35.5, at about 2:10 a.m., when 22-year-old Margaret Palilonis, of Woolwich Township, reportedly went off the left side of the roadway.
Her vehicle, a blue 2015 Jeep Wrangler, rolled over multiple times when Palilonis attempted to correct her course. It landed on its side off the side of the roadway.
Palilonis, who was reportedly not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, was ejected from her seat.
She died at the scene.
Authorities believe that Palilonis may have been drowsy when the crash occurred.
The accident remains under investigation at this time.
