2 killed as Jeep collides with tree off NJ-17 in Ramsey

BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — Two people, including a 96-year-old woman, died Tuesday afternoon after a single-vehicle accident on Route 17 in Ramsey, according to Daily Voice.

The fatal crash happened on the northbound highway near the Exxon station just after 2:30 p.m.

It remains unclear at this time what caused the wreck, but authorities said a Jeep Cherokee slammed into a tree on the station’s property.

A medical helicopter was placed on standby, but Ramsey Police said the driver and a single passenger, both adults, were pronounced deceased at the scene.

Multiple first responders, including firefighters and Ambulance Corps members, assisted police at the site.
