MONMOUTH COUNTY, NJ — Two Toms River men died Sunday afternoon after a crash involving a partially-stopped vehicle on Garden State Parkway in Wall Township, according to Daily Voice.

The fatal wreck occurred on the northbound parkway near milepost 97.7 at around 1:30 p.m.

New Jersey State Police said a 75-year-old man was in a Chevrolet Equinox that was “partially stopped” in the right lane while a 57-year-old man stood to the left of the vehicle. At one point, a Jeep Wrangler collided with the left side of the stopped vehicle and the 57-year-old man. Both Toms River men were pronounced deceased at the scene.

It was unclear whether the driver of the Jeep Wrangler, a 24-year-old Belmar man, was injured.

Two right lanes on the northbound parkway were shut down for about 2.5 hours during the emergency response.

An investigation remains ongoing.
