WATERFORD, NJ – A 10-year-old boy riding a bicycle was airlifted to the hospital after being struck by a hit-and-run driver in Waterford yesterday, according to NJ.com.
The accident happened near the intersection of Bellevue Avenue and E Atlantic at about 5:25 p.m., when a 10-year-old boy riding his bike was struck by the driver of a blue 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 pickup truck.
The driver, alleged to be 32-year-old Waterford man William Michael, is said to have briefly stopped to look at the victim, then drove away.
The child was airlifted to the hospital in Camden with undisclosed injuries.
A surveillance camera nearby captured Michael’s license plate as he drove off. He was later taken into police custody after authorities located his vehicle.
He is being held at the Camden County Jail, and is facing five charges, including leaving the scene of a crash, vehicular assault, and aggravated assault.
