BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — One person was hospitalized late Saturday night after a pickup truck and an NJ Transit train collided in Hackensack, reports NJ.com.

The collision occurred at the Central Avenue crossing at around 11:45 p.m.

According to authorities, a Pascack Valley Line train No. 2133 was traveling through the area when a pickup truck “made contact with the side of the train.”

Responding fire crews had to cut off the top of the pickup to access and extricate the driver. The victim was then taken to Hackensack University Medical Center with injuries considered non-life-threatening.

No injuries to any of the train’s 40 passengers or its crew were reported.

In the aftermath, tow crews removed the pickup from the site and transit customers were re-routed to their destinations by bus.

No further details have been shared at this time, but an investigation by NJ Transit police was in progress.
